At Light Facial Plastic Surgery, our aesthetic staff offers a variety of chemical peels and facials. Our aesthetician will choose the one most appropriate to your skin care needs and desired outcomes. During a consultation at our Decatur, Alabama practice, our skin care specialists will help you choose the chemical peel that is most appropriate for your needs.
THE CHEMICAL PEEL PROCEDURE
The first type of chemical peel that our Aesthetic Staff offers is a light “lunchtime” laser peel. The exact solution used in a light chemical peel varies according to the patient’s skin type and goals, but light chemical peels are always gentle and can be completed within an hour. Light chemical peels are usually made from a combination of alpha hydroxy acids (derived from sugar cane, milk, fruit, and other natural substances) and beta hydroxy acid (derived from fruit). The mixture is applied to the patient’s skin to treat the outer, damaged layers of skin and encourage the production of new skin, rich with collagen and elastin.
For patients who require more advanced rejuvenation, our staff offers a deeper chemical peel made of a mixture of TCA (trichloroacetic acid) and Jessner’s, Solution ( lactic acid, salicylic acid, and resorcinol). This type of chemical peel is similar to a light chemical peel in that it treats dry, damaged skin and promotes the regeneration of healthy, younger-looking skin. However, the TCA/Jessner’s Peel penetrates deeper into the skin for more dramatic results and is often a more effective solution for patients with darker skin.
VIPEEL PRECISION PLUS
ViPeel Precision Plus is a popular option for treating breakouts, discoloration, and fine lines. This peel can treat skin from the hairline down the face and neck and all the way to the décolletage. It reduces pore size, improves texture and creates the “glow” which has made this peel a favorite since 2007. The ViPeel is not painful and requires no anesthetic. It is performed by
our aesthetician, who considers skin type and can customize the steps to address specific areas of concern. The office visit begins of a chemical process that continues at home with easy-to-follow products and instructions. It takes most people seven days to achieve their final result of freshly revealed, glowing skin. Here is a breakdown of how skin typically reacts after the initial ViPeel:
Day 1: Skin looks slightly bronzed and feels tight
Day 2: Some pigmentation begins to surface, no peeling yet
Day 3: Peeling begins around the mouth and chin
Day 4: Other areas begin peeling
Days 5 and 6: Peeling continues, especially during gentle cleansing
Day 7: Face is fresh looking with a smooth, polished finish
The ViPeel is a great choice for an end of summer cleanup and a favorite with clients who want to look great for a special occasion and are willing to plan ahead to allow for a few days of prolific peeling. Light Facial Plastic Surgery offers a variety of chemical peels so your treatment aligns with your goals. They range in terms of who performs the procedure, depth of treatment, overall goals, skin type, price and duration of downtime.
